A weird day as come...

Friday was a really weird day for me. I went to visit an appartment near downtown Dublin. It was kind of small, but very secure, not very expensive, near everything so I decided that it was either Blackhorse's room or this one. So I went back to the hostel to work on my plan of action, prepare my luggage and mainly to wait for the confirmation call from the Blackhorse house agent, which was supposed to happen around 7pm... it was like 2h30... I loose patience and call myself the agent around 3h30. Briefly, I can't get the room in that house because my only references are from Montreal and the insurance company they're working with only accepts tenants who had references from dublin or at least Ireland... SO, goodbye Blackhorse, shouldn't have gotten attached to that place!

At least I had my backup plan, so I called the canadian woman of that morning's appartment, Lori, and I tell her I'll take it. So she tells me to move in at 6pm!! Meanwhile I open my appointment book, and call Fiona, another owner I was supposed to visit on monday. Voice Mail, I leave her a message that I won't me visiting. I cross all the other addresses and phone numbers I had noted down, thinking to myself that it was finished and it is at that moment that I say to myself "Mmmm maybe I shouldn't, just in case of... BAAAAAH! Gotta be confident!" So at 3h55 I am down at the security deposit waiting for them to unlock it (only once every hour) Lori calls me back and I answer her joyfully! Well she calls me to announce me that in fact the other tenants has already found replacement ones and that she didn't knew so that in fact I couldn't move in at all!!

For 5 minutes, I go crazy, but you know, silently crazy, haha! My two flats opportunity I thought safe escaped through my fingers AND I had just cancelled my night at the hostel... basically, I was homeless. I get myself together, head back to the hostel office, ask for a room again, get it. I sit down, open my notebook and call Fiona again to tll her that I want that appointment in fact! She answers and is sorry that she couldn't call me back before. I reserve an appointment with her again, she's very happy and I am relieved a bit! I hang up and receive at the same time a voice mail of my mother who tried to call me at the same time, so I head to an international calling card machine, tries 6000 times to put in my 10euro bill, nothing! I decide to go to the USIT centre (for working abroad students, free internet and a few services and advisors to help you during your stay) but it closes at 5h00, its 4h30 and all the internet computers are taken and there is a hugo waiting list. I write my name, sit down for 2 seconds, think it is just insane, get up and erase my name from the list. I wanted to go on Daft.ie, an ireland site for accomodation searching. Before leaving I decide to check out the announcement board where I had previously found the add about Lori's flat in City Centre, its no longer there and there's nothing new. Someone taps me on the shoulder, its Lori, and she invites me for a cup of coffee!

Finally she gets to explain everything. In fact she lied a little because the other tenant did find someone but only for the 1st of July and on, but since she didn't really wanted me there, Lori decided to say that the rooms were full. So she offered me to come in and stay in the flat for 7 days, at 10euros each day so that at least I will be able to leave the hostel and be free to search for more flats more comfortably! Yeah!!! So I go back to the hostel and arrive at 5h00, just in time to get my luggage out of the security depot. So I get to move in to a small cozy place with a very nice lady in fact and it is so much more relaxing than the hostel!

If I could have bought that stupid international calling card, I would have called my mother back and stumbled in exasperated and depressed explanations of what happened to me AND I would not have been to USIT to meet Lori and get to stay in that appartment for 7 days! Anyways!

Bye!
